ELMIRA, N.Y., (April 15, 2009) --
The Trenton Devils suffered their worst defeat in over a year at the hands of
the Elmira Jackals, 5-0, in Game 3 of the North Division Semifinals Wednesday
night. The Jackals now lead the best-of-seven series, two games to one.
The Devils' last five-goal loss
came to the Johnstown Chiefs on March 30, 2008, also a 5-0 defeat.
For the third game in a row, a
Jackals defenseman was the game's first goal scorer. Brandon Roach ripped a
slap shot through a screen on the power play with 1:37 left in the first
period.
The Jackals carried the momentum
into the second period, as they scored twice in 14 seconds on tallies by
Brendan Connolly and Pierre-Luc Faubert. The Devils started to create more
opportunities late in the period, which included Jeff Prough being robbed of a
goal from point-blank range by the glove of Michael Teslak.
The third period was more of the
same, as the Jackals scored two more on a Steve Yetman shorthanded goal and
Faubert's second of the night. Teslak picked up the shutout by making 32 saves
in the win.
The Devils will play Game 4 of the
North Division Semifinals against the Jackals Thursday night, with the puck
drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Fans can listen to the online audio webcast by
