Trenton - The Trenton Devils got their second win of the 2009-2010 campaign with a 3-2 win over the Johnstown Chiefs Friday on home ice. The Devils jumped out to a 3-0 lead midway through the second period and were able to hold on thanks to a solid performance from netminder Gerald Coleman. Coleman, who started his first game since re-joining the team after a stint in Lowell, stopped 35 of 37 shots and was named the second star of the game.

The Devils got on the board first at 8:52 of the first period with a shorthanded goal from Dan Eves. While killing a slashing penalty against Tim Kunes, Eves gathered a neutral zone pass from Justin Coutu, broke through a pack of Chiefs and let a quick wrist shot go from just past the blue line. The shot sailed over the glove of Chief goaltender Kris Mayotte who appeared to be screened by his own defenseman. The goal was Eves's first goal of the young season.

David Leaderer built on the lead a little over a minute into the second period when his wrist shot from the left point made its way in through traffic. Mike Harder and Andy Thomas assisted. At 7:53 of the second, Tony Zancanaro netted what would turn out to be the game winning goal. The 5-6 forward carried the puck into the Chief's zone, peeled up at the high slot and flicked a shot towards goal surprising Moyotte low. Chief Head Coach Jeff Flanagan pulled Moyotte following Zancanaro's goal and replaced him with Shane Connelly.

The Chief's made it 3-1 at 8:55 of the second period with a goal from Mike Bartlett and scored late in the third with Connelly pulled but it wasn't enough as the Devils improved their record to 2-2-1-1.
